FFS - My nice 406

Post by xplosiv »

Hi,

Look what some silly women did to my 406 today

Image

I assume the insurance will write it off and give me £20, anybody have any experience with this sort of thing? (I have fully comp, and although she caused the accident it will be hard to prove, so it looks like it will be knock for knock

Hi,

Yes I am fine, did not feel a thing the good old 406 is as strong as a tank. More bothered about getting enough money from the insurance to get another car. (as I am still a student looking for a job)

Bloody women drivers..

I say f*ck off to the "women are the safest drivers" shite that is always used in arguments. Seeing that the statistics are taken from insurance claims, I'm willing to bet a lot of women are insured under their husband, so when they claim... its HIS name that is marked... hence a skewing of claim stats.

The amount of utterly useless driving I see from women is staggering. God sworn honest truth. A lot of women around here seem barely able to control their vehicles.
I mean... I had one reverse into the right hand rear corner of mine. I was standing right behind her waiting to get into a parking spot when she began to reverse. Broad daylight and 2 people waving at her to stop. But still she carried on and hit me. Bitch sped off before I could even undo my seatbelt.

On the bright side, It looks like you might just need a new wing and both doors.
Something you could probably do yourself if you get the parts from a scrapyard in the same colour.

That's well mashed up

The trouble, with that sort of damage, is that the repairer will have a lot of re-alignment work (hours) and it all becomes not worth it.

Don't worry just yet though fella - you will probably be very surprised at the settlement offer. Insurers are becoming pretty fair with thier offers these days.

If you've got some decent pre-accident pics and old bills etc it will help to negotiate with them later.

The question on all our lips though is this - Will you buy another 406???????????

Add one more to that count - I have just had a new tailgate and bumper fitted to mine courtesy of a woman driver.

xplosiv: Looking at the damage to yours it is very similar to an accident I suffered in a Corsa. I was on major road, some guy came out of a side road driving a Subaru. Pushed me across the road and made similar dents. It was a horrendous time with the insurance but in the end I won.

1) I took photos of the scene, condition of road, parked cars, location of cars, rubber on road, etc
2) He backed his car up then took photos (the difference was obvious)
3) He got a "witness" statement from one of his neighbours
4) My insurance co was going to settle in his favour because of (3)
5) I disputed, gave further evidence (semi expert) and they tried to go knock for knock
6) I refused, insurance co's solicitors got involved and the other driver was take to court
7) I won - accident was declared the other guys fault.

The court case was fun, the other guy's brief tried to get my evidence and opinion excluded because of the potential expert nature of that evidence and them not having an expert to rebut my claims. The judge tossed that one out rather swiftly :-)

One of the key points was the position of impact - who hit who. As I was travelling forwards and was hit in the side in the same place you were hit, there was no choice but to find in my favour.

Hope this is of some use to you.

Hi,

Mine was a little different: I was going around a packed car and at the same time the women on the other side of the road went around a packed car on her side. I mounted the curb stone (in doing so popped a tire) to make room for her car at which point she slammed on the brakes in her car and lost control hitting mine.

The damage to her car was front end and mine side on, so it is oblivious who hit who.

If they cannot fix it; (Which I think they will) I will try and get another 406 HDi and go down to mine before the scrap man get’s it and take the High Pressure pump etc

Hi,

I had a camera in the car, so the first thing I did is jump out and take loads of pictures, including ones of here walking around and moving her car as to prove she was not injured.

I think this will be a knock for knock situation.

So you were stationary when she it you.

Fight knock for knock if it goes that way - you have nothing to loose and everything to gain. NCD is worth fighting for!!!

Women Drivers

Post by logicaldude »

I agree that women drivers are NOT better than men for example.....

My 1st accident in my old 405 was due to a woman pulling out into the side of me as she was removing something for her eye as she approached the junction. Yes I won this one.

My 2nd accident in my old 405 was not really an accident as I was in town in the pub when it happened lol, but a woman on anti depresants and full of alcohol was reversing her austin maestro up the road and into my car lol. The police didnt wana know as there was no evidence who did it, but luckely she lived over the road from my mate and came home that night. She got arrested but I had to pay as she had no insurance.

My 3rd accident was in my old D9 was rediculous, I was pulling into a car park space, when a woman parked her astra behind me in a yellow hatched section. I had to reverse and straighten up and i hit her car (it was dark and i guess this is the downside of anti dazzle mirrors),.

Even though she was parked ilegally it was my fault!!! My insurance company paid out £1100 on repairs on a R reg astra (this time last year). The damage to my D9 was zero lol

Hi,

It is looking like I will not be getting a 406, they have written the car-off. And I have looked at the value of the car as per-dealer and parkers car guide. And amazingly enough my car is apparently worth:

£2100

406 V Reg
2.0L HDi (110)
Metallic Jade Green
60,000 Miles on the clock
Climate Control
CD Multi Changer

For £2100 - £500 Excess I will be lucky if i can get a 1.0L 10 year old 106 as all the second hand 406’s are around the £3,000 - £4,000 unless you want one with 1000000000000000000000000,00 miles on the clock

Not Happy
