Vibrating Engine mount (FAO Jameslxdt)

Post by Blue406 »

Yo James!

In order to cure your lower O/S engine mount vibration you said "use Rad hose"

How does one use the Rad hose to be precise? I've half inched some radiator hose from a scapped 6, now all I need is a laymens guide on what you did
Can you help?

It is as simple as just forcing some rad hose rubber between the pin and bracket?

Hi blue,

You may as well go down to the stealer and buy the two bit's that make up the rear engine mount (it cost me £40 approx). then get a local mechanic to fit it.

I had mine fitted in 1hr 30 mins

Made a big differance

I was contemplating that actually.

I'm saving every penny for my road trip to Germany next week for 2 weeks.
This is just a quick temp fix I'm looking for until can shell out the cash for the proper kit and job.

im here :cheesy:
cut the bush in two pieces lengthways, then into inch segments, using an assistant using a pry bar, lever the engine towards the bulkhead, push the hose in the gap on the bush, lever the engine the other way and put the hose in the gap of the bush in the other side, do the same for the bottom bush, but this is very hard as you cant get a prybar under the car with it on axle stands

on the 2.0 16v RFV, all of them, the engine mount bushes are far far too weak for the movement of the engine

I've just replaced a completely nackered top engine mount - it was the small end that had perished and detached and I couldn't really bodge it - £60 later from the stealer and all done in 30mins 8) I'm guessing it was spilt oil that may have caused it to perish in the first place???
