Derv Pump

Post by todayshorse »

Hi all new here, just after some answers to a couple of questions. (my other questions will be in the relavent sections lol) Just bought a 406 DT on a P plate, but it needs a derv pump. Is the engine in the xantia TD the same and if so are the derv pumps the same? Looks very similar as i have a xantia but its not here for me to check at the moment. Ive got a xantia pump to go on the pug but if it doesnt it wasnt expensive!

Thanks all :D

if you look at the front of the car with bonnet open, near the front left is a black plasitc box, take the lid off, there will be a metal box inside, this is your engine ecu, take it out, does it have bosch AS3 VP20 printed on it?

some 406's didnt have electronic injection (hardly any) whereas the xantia most were mechanical injection but some are electronic, the pumps are different, the engines are the same but uses different numbers DHX are the electronic ones and DHY and D9B anf D8A are the mechanical ones
your 406 will most likley have the electronic injection so you will need to make sure the xantia does too
why are you changing the pump?

because it leaks diesel everywhere from somewhere on it,its at a diesel specialist now. recommended a replacement pump rather than repair. Looking at the engine bays i cant recall any major differences between the two, the xantia is a VSX model, i would of done it myself but dont fancy messing with the cambelt and things

according to a google search the xantia got a bosch AS3 VP-20 coded DHX in the 1905 TD engine in the xantia, and so did the 1905 td engine in the 406, also coded DHX. As the pump came off a M reg citroen, the codes will be the same? This is the same pump i saw in this thread viewtopic.php?t=2821&highlight=fuel+pump

So are the differences inside the pump if its injection system is mechanical or electronic?
