tracking

Post by andrew1608 »

i recently had my car into the garage for a interim service and get the off side rear suspension arm replaced, could having this replaced cause the tracking to be knocked out, because when i left the garage the steering wheel was out of alignment and don't know whether this repair would have caused this.

I stand to be corrected, but I think that due to the independant suspension all round, the rear wheels needs to be realigned after work on the suspension.

tracking

I had the same problem. The stearler replace the track rod while it was in for a survice. Unfortunately, the tracking was out on both wheels . Hence 8k miles late a brand new set of conti's wear worn out. The stealer then told me at the next service that the track had been checked and was found to be in tolerence. I told him to adjust it to what the car needed and not what the book said it needed! He was baffled by my request until I told him that if he adjusted it, it would still be within the 'tolerence' area laid down in his little book. Needless to say everything appears to be okay now.
