That's about when they started making the D9s. If your radiator grille looks like the one in James' sig then you've got a D8 but if it's got a black mesh grille (see Welton's sig) then it's a D9pauloharpo wrote:is s reg 1999
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

It's a D8 then. Is there much difference?mjb wrote:That's about when they started making the D9s. If your radiator grille looks like the one in James' sig then you've got a D8 but if it's got a black mesh grille (see Welton's sig) then it's a D9pauloharpo wrote:is s reg 1999
Anyway, it holds 4.75 litres - did it today with Total semi-synth. Garage said it has been looked after because when he had changed and dipped oil it didn't go brown- was hard to see on dip stick. Hope he's right!

Not even sure if mine is exec model - a wolf in sheeps clothing - no badges, but that great engine and all the toys inside!!V6Exec wrote:Haynes manual for a V6 - let me know if you find one![]()
I seem to have a problem with my current cars and Haynes mauals.
. 1972 Landrover 2.6 6 cylinder - No Haynes manual
. 1999 406 Exec Estate V6 - No Haynes manual

6 Cylinders are great engines.
There is thread about chavtastic driving elsewhere, but here is a classic in my classic.
I was driving along one day on a dual carriageway when a frontera made a break for it. This was a few years ago when they were still new. This guy floored his expecting to overtake the old landrover in front of him. He failed to realise what the exhaust poking out the rear rather than the side meant. A little light pressure on the loud pedal left him behind
I once impressed a biker speed freak friend with my landy too. He was into big bikes with killer acceleration. Low range, first gear, high revs and a drop of the clucth. The old girl jumped forward and did 0-5mph instantly.
