Actually this pump, in the field, is showing 2 bar on the presure gauge because it's working against a small orifice and small tubing and not delivering it's maximum flow rate. In fact it has been speed controlled down to 2 Bar in this application.
The performance of the pump varies according to the application it's in.
I thank yaw

take into account 75 GPH of HOT 30W, in an open system!!dodgy website wrote:Our oil scavenge pump has been measured moving 75 GPH of hot 30W oil in an open system, and yet draws only 3.2 amps! In a closed system, it can produce up to 20 psi, where the flow rate will be 69 GPM and it will draw 4.5 Amps.
and as niz said only 20psi in a closed system isnt much over 1 bar
not quite 2 bar

FAQ - 406 D8 petrol (excl. V6) running and starting problemsPeugeot wrote:what are you worried about? we made car that lasted 10 years"..."Zat is very goode non?
My mate used to work for Mercedes and he was telling me that there was a recall on the older sprinter CDI vans (not sure which motor) because of some kind of problem with the turbo! He reckoned they were just throwing the old turbos in the bin once they were removed from the engine!
Question: Do the 406 Turbo owners run "turbo timers" on their cars?
I know quite a few people have them here - especially in the Aussie summer due to the extreme operating tempratures! Just lets the car cool down for a bit, the owner can walk away when the car is still running and it will shut down once it has reached a temprature which wont cause damage to the car once its switched off? Alot of manafacturers give a warning regarding going for a cool down drive or letting the car idle for a bit to let it cool down to prevent a turbo failure!

I just make sure I idle mine for a bit without aircon. The external temperature really doesn't affect things much given how ludicrously hot turbos get, in fact a hotter ambient temperature would slightly reduce the chance of the turbo seizingSTALLED wrote:Question: Do the 406 Turbo owners run "turbo timers" on their cars?

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
What I was trying to say is that due to Aussieland being so freakin hot sometimes - even a small drive can heat things up in the engine bay pretty quickly, hence why all the manafacturers give strict reccomendations when it comes to cooling down your turbo!mjb wrote:I just make sure I idle mine for a bit without aircon. Why would you idle it without the aircon - I take it for more gradual cooling as the second fan isnt running?
Well I only have one working fan which comes on at full speed or nothing! There's a few reasons. Firstly the aircon compressor adds a hefty load to the engine on idle, pretty much doubling the fuel consumption. Secondly it generates a lot of heat which ends up being blown into the engine bay courtesy of the fans. Lastly a/c will activate the fan when it feels like it whereas I usually have my idle time as the time it takes the fan to come on and go off again. With a/c on it doesn't necessarily stopSTALLED wrote:What I was trying to say is that due to Aussieland being so freakin hot sometimes - even a small drive can heat things up in the engine bay pretty quickly, hence why all the manafacturers give strict reccomendations when it comes to cooling down your turbo!

the cooling fan will run as long as the a/c compressor clutch is engaged

Not on mine, probably due to having one failed fan. My only working fan just comes on and off (there's only full speed) intermittently as neededjameslxdt wrote:the cooling fan will run as long as the a/c compressor clutch is engaged
