dam sump gasket

Post by mbell666 »

On Saturday I spent over 5 hours changing the sump gasket (instant gasket stuff) not finishing till 7 in the evening and the dam thing is leaking in exactly the same point again! well cheesed off!

I think i didn't get it quite in the right spot and some oil built up, so when i move it to the right spot I got oil on the mating surface and it hasn't sealed correctly.

I am not doing that job again, bit of a pain having to remove fan belts and AC pump etc. I am just going to clean it up and shove a load of gasket of the outside and hope for the best!

On the plus side its now leaking very clean oil (even after 200 miles), the noise i was getting at idle has gone (will probably return) and i got some pics of the internals which look in good nick, espicially for 150K.

if some one can suggest a website i put the pics online
