Anyone able to point me in the direction of a painting guide?

I've decided for the cost of a spray can of "rhodes blue" (apparently - code "m0mp" is missing from most lists i've found) I may as well have a go myself on the current mess of a bonnet and save a ton or so. Heck I can't make it look any worse than it already is.

How do you get existing paint off and how thick do you spray new paint on?
