URGENT ADVICE PLEASE

Post by Tiny Tim »

Guys, i've just had a look at

Linky...

(apologies for the long link)

To find out what the funny orange light on my dahs was every time I turn the ignition on.

I've just looked at the symbols and realised its figure 20 'ENGINE FAILURE'

This light goes out after a while and has never come on whilst driving - SHOULD I BE WORRIED? - Its my first pug, so have never seen this symbol before.. I recently bought the car from a local garage and as the light goes out didnt really think anything of it, now im poo'ing my pants. PLEASE HELP!

its a perfectly normal thing for that light to come on when the igntion is turned on. its the engine management check light. if the light goes out after it starts (usually around 6 seconds or so) theres nothing to be worried about. if it comes on when your driving it doesnt mean that the engines failed, its just a warning that something like an sensor has malfunctioned.

hope that puts your mind at rest

Thankyou Mike, much appreciated. Bought the car as a family run about after becoming a dad 4 weeks ago... couldnt be dealing with any big problems like that!

Cheers again!

It can also mean something MUCH more important... If it comes on during a drive accompanied by the STOP light, then do what it says!

Say that flashed up once in a while - once every few weeks or so while driving - with no other lights... Any ideas? :D

Thanks,
Nick

could be an iffy connection on the sensor may be wort a go at pulling one off at a time and checking for any corrosion if so try cleaning it doesnt sound like anything major though pug slike to do that make you have heart failure at thinking the whole engine is screwed

The only thing i can think of (apart from the loose connections) is that the head gaskets been skimmed to within an inch of its life..

Ill have a look at the sensors tho..
