Hi all, im the new proud owner of an early 406 1.9 td. In mettalic green. Ive just sold my 405 td for it and I must say I loved the comfort of the 405 and couldnt believe it when I found the 406 even better.
Its done 213000 miles and apart from a dead turbo drives lovely. Oh comes with full service history and is immaculate too
Thanks for the welcome.
The car has been very well looked after throughout its life with a masive amount of history with it. Its absolutly immaculate. My last car I just sold was a 405 with a XUD turbo engine in and that had 240000 miles on it and ran lovely too. Currently my ZX (commuting car) only has 150000 miles so im just running her in She runs better on veggy oil so thats her secret.
As for the others, I just buy cheap diesel oil (From Asda's), but change the oil every 6000 miles without fail.
Oh and forgot to say. The reason I keep having cars with the XUD engine in is because im not a great mechanic and they are just soo reliable. It then leaves me time to spend with my family and my Skoda collection.

erm well.....
Im 32 and have owned well over 200 cars. Some for days, some for years.
Currently ive got:
1996 406 1.9 Dead Turbo Diesel.
1993 Citroen zx 1.9 Diesel.
1989 Skoda Favorit 1.3. With added turbo and nos.
1989 Skoda Rapid 136 Cabriolet (Immaculate)
1986 Skoda 130 Estelle(Show condition)
1979 Skoda S110R(Presentable ish)
1967 Skoda 1000 MB(Freshly imported current restoration project)
Avon Locost Kitcar (Currently 1/4 built hanging with cable ties in my garage)
1979 Mini Clubman 1275 GT (Complete wreck, but I will restore it soon)
It sounds like a lot, but I have insurance with Footman James and the whole lot only costs me £576 a year with agreed values.
