However they didn't mind that I took it away to look at as I thought an intermittant fault might just be a dodgy bit of soldering, and just charged me an hours labour for the time it took to try it (£17 here). When I went back for it (no obvious fault found) they just charged me for the bit which I changed myself.steve_earwig wrote:Pug trialed mine by substitution. It was duff of course.
Prior to this I'd spent a year scouring the 'net for ideas, I'd also been searching for this mythical control box and had the dashboard out 3 times, wondering how much worse I could have made it if I'd taken it to bits...

Re: "sticky"speedo
hi all, my problem is that my speedo works most of the time, but then just drops down to 0 as im driving then stays there for a while, then works normaly, when it is not working i can hear a click and the needle jumps up and then goes down, i have seen threads on here which say it could be the box behind the glove box, or dry solder joints, or the sender on the box, and also it could be the speedo cable, my car is a 1996 2.0 turbo petrol excutive, and its my first 406, i would like any help in pointing me in the right direction as where to look to fix this problem, thank you.
