Gearbox help needed hdi

Right, a little while ago my box started making funnie noises, so i sourced a low mileage guaranteed box from a peugeot dismantler. It was a be 4 box which was the same as mine, It has been fitted to the car and guess what no reverse or 5th gear. The garage have said that the linkage looks slightly different and are going to have a play, also some one has said that the 5th / reverse gear are behind the gearbox end plate and sometimes the nut comes loose?? - Does anyone have any ideas??

as i said before there are many variations to the BE4 box, some had reverse in top left (lift up) instead of bottom right
which is strangely enough where fith gear should be

Its sorted now, was a bent linkage, oh and the original problem of the noise was a collapsed bearing in the o/s/f shaft!! - so did not need the box after all!! oh well

I have to say, out of anything on a 406 the manual gearbox is totally worry-free. I was surprised at your problem but thought that some boxes must go wrong occasionaly?

That reminds me I keep meening to change the oil in my gearbox
