I had toyed with the idea of getting one but the insurance here is the killer. For the fact that I am under 25 they wont insure you. I had a teacher at school which was forced to sell hers due to the fact that the insurance companies were wanting too much to keep it on the road - sold it and bought a Pug 206 GTI 180 instead!

Been a passenger in a WRX with 250kw ATW and it was insane. Probably the fastest car I have been in to date. Runs 11 sec quarter miles! They are pretty popular here but people get them stolen too much as the police cant keep up with them as they get used in ram raids etc. NSW Police used to have a set of them but were forced to sell em when it was found out they have dodgy speedos - they aren't calibrated to work with radar devices!

My light weight Honda with 160BHP and LSD used to give the old 240BHP UK spec Scoobies a good run

After my old 2.0 turbo had been modded to 180bhp it could practically keep up with some Imprezas on the motorway at high speed, hardly anything in it, but there are a few differences. The Scooby is designed to get off the mark a lot quicker and when both cars are in their stride the Impreza loses this advantage. On the other hand a 4-cylinder 406 will run about of breath before 130mph and the Scooby will carry on at 150. A 406 doesn't seem able to get over its own weight as well as the Scooby, it doesn't rev as freely, and I don't think FWD is much of a match for 4WD.

I prefer the 406 because it's easier to live with, is way better looking, is not a chav car and won't have people burgling your house for the keys.

And they're pretty fun on the track, too. As long as you don't try to drive it like a WRX, like I did. The 406 doesn't like being driven like a WRX. Oh no indeed.
