Glad it wasn't the head gasket but the bad fuel is a bit of a bummer. Can't help you with costs (how long is a piece of string??) but disposing of the dodgy petrol will cost a bit too I'm afraid.

It shouldn't cost the earth, I'm not sure what others would say but surely the fuel line wouldn't need replacing?

I'm not sure what the contamination was but it would probably be ok to flush it out with some clean petrol.

Oh blimey, your car's definitely got it in for you!

Was it you or the mechanic? Any of you guys know the right cranking pressure for this engine?

If the pressure has dropped then it's either blowing past the rings or past the valves. What you can do is stick some engine oil down the plug holes and then test the pressure again, if it shoots right up then I'm aftaid your rings/bores are on their way. If not then it's probably the valves, you'll have to have the head off and regrind them.

Does it smoke at all and, if so, when? (You might have to have a friend follow you...)

Or, if it runs ok with the new leads, you might be better off ignoring it...

Bah I was going to suggest that! Saw it on telly the other day... Can't remember what program, probably either 'Wheeler Dealers' or 'A Something Is Born'... ;)

They didn't show them here... :P It's as old as the hills, I'm surprised the guy's mechanic didn't suggest it. Probably says bad things about him.

Let's see what new leads do, although I have a feeling turbos are subject to coil failures. I remember a forum but I can't find it (prokleti hakeri).

I'm hopeful about those new leads, it does indeed sound like an ignition fault. Although we could do with some input from those with experience of turbos. Maybe I need to shout:

TURBO MISFIRE HELP! :cheesy:
