Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Climate control relay?????

Post by powerslider »

Hi guys, is there a seperate relay for the climate control. Is so where can i find it. The climate control panel is not working at all, tried the fuses and checked all wiring to the ignition to no avail.

There seems to be a lack of relays in the car, where do i find them.

Any other ideas to the problem.

The car is a 's' reg 2.1 td glx.

At the mo have no heating and no fan.not good in winter :

There should be a fair collection behind the fuse panel.

Haynes doesn't have a wiring diagram for the air con either :(

In my D8, the air con is controlled by the relay at the back of the dashboard, behind the pedals. You'll need to take off the cover (3 plastic lugs to remove) to get access to them. There will be 2 black relays next to each other. One controls the front fog lights, the other does the air con and rear heated windscreen. Well, on mine anyway.... But then, I don't have climate control, just plain old air con (less things to go wrong, you see... :P)

If the panel's completely dead, it's more likely than not going to be the connector at the back of it having fallen out, failing that you'll want to get another from a scrappy

The connector block is fine, no loose wires etc, have exchanged the unit for a tested one at my local pug specialist and still no joy.

Looking like its a job for a auto electrician or the main dealer.

Bummer. I'd suggest chasing it with a meter but I know once those wires dissapear inside the loom it's anybody's guess. Auto electrician will probably be the safer bet, probably cheaper and actually knows what he's doing...
