Welcome to the forum.
Seems there has been a slew of heater related problems come to light recently.
Does yours have the climate control system or the manual controls?

The dreaded French electrics strike again.
In the Haynes books it shows an electronic control module for the blower fan.
The usual fix is to swap out known good items to identify what is wrong. Options are speak to 406 owning friends or nip down the scrappys.

Re: cabin heater fan is not working properley
sounds like the fan resistor pack, check for feed to it if it appears to be ok, then change the resistor

Re: cabin heater fan is not working properley
thanks for your interest in my problem as i say i`m a complete novice and i must admit car electrics are a little daunting I have managed to locate my cabin fan but all i can find in close proximity to it is numerous wires and connecting blocks unable to find any relay switches or resisters if any one as any knowledge
wether these can be found i would be truley greatful. If anybody as a haynes manual of even a wireing diagram for my 406hdi at a reasonable price i would be willing to buy it may help me in the long runthnaks once again

Hi Johnrobert,
Had the same problem myself earlier this year! If I can fix it then anyone can...
Bought a replacement fan (which includes the control unit) from a local (Devizes Reclamation - shameless plug) vehicle recycling facility for about £10.
Also got a manual from Ebay - about £10.
Did a bit of reading. undid a few screws . Disconected a few plugs . As Haynes says - do it all in reverse and bingo, a fan that works.
Now all I need is a heater unit that actually heats the car
oh sooo slow....leave the motor running for 10 mins before I need to drive it and it NEVER seems to get HOT, just warm!
Bit of a 406 (but not Pug) newbie myself so good luck and of course welcome

thanks maranman
will have a look at my local scrap yard and see if they have the neccersary fan and control unit in and if so will give it a try still looking for that manual if any one has one.
