Got a minor problem. The rear heated window on my D8 does work - but it takes an age to actually do anything - average is about 10 minutes, if I catch it misting up then it takes about 5 to clear - my old 405 was much faster!
Am I suffering from crap electrics or is there something i can do?
Cheers
Mike

Re: Rear heated window
You could see what voltage you're getting across it.

Re: Rear heated window
OK, I have a resonable multi meter - now how do i use it please to test the voltage on the rear window?
Sorry for asking a silly question

Re: Rear heated window
All I'm thinking is if the heated window does work then the element's not burned out. The next thing is to see if it's getting the full voltage (it's a good job it's not a D9, bluddy IBS...). If you can get the connectors off (don't force them or you'll have nothing at all!) you can measure the no load voltage, you'll also need to have the engine running (apparently). On my estate I get 14.4v (i.e. full system voltage with the alternator spinning). The next thing to do is see what the voltage drops to with the element on the end (you'll need some wires to touch the heater element connectors), I got 11.6v. If you can't get the connectors off then you'll have to get to the wires another way (stick some pins or similar into the connectors) but this is the crucial one. If you get a much lower reading then further investigation is required. If you get about the same then you'll have to stop whinging and live with it
Ps. I went out to have a look for the connectors and found the bluddy boot lid was stuck
so I had to take it to bits anyway.
