Hello all,
Had a recent problem with my 406, wondered if anyone had any suggestions before a garage fleeces me.
Drivers electric window went down on Friday and wouldn't go back up again. I could hear a click/thud inside the door making me thing the motor was trying but with no effect. Made sure the switch was dry and then sprayed the runners with Silicon Gel which seemed to clear the problem. Until this morning when I put the window down and then it wouldn't go up at first. Gave it a couple of attemps and then it worked.
Any ideas?
I was thinking I should get the motor replaced, but I've just remember that my car hasn't started as easily a couple of times last few weeks. Hope there's not a more general electrical issue.

Sounds like the motor to me too if it worked tempoararily when you lubed the runners.
I'd say your starting problem is a coincidence with the cold weather we've had recently!

Re: Dodgy Driver Window
Interestingly enough my drivers window has issues closing only when it's cold out (typical...) causing it to drop back down. Wonder if the cold weather's causing the bodywork to shrink enough to make the glass tough to move.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Or maybe the cold weather's causing the rubbers to go stiff and any grease to go hard...
