That will be a D8, but very expensive at 2700euro, I wouldn't pay anymore than £800 for it.

Possibly the least satisfying comment I've heard, and the gearbox was what I was mostly concerned with, the handbrake of my own car is pretty rough, but I haven't had any bad engine problems apart from blowing out the alternator....

Gearbox's are usually spot on, I think I was just unlucky as clutch went when I was horsing it from 1st to 2nd, its prob bits of clutch lodged in the 2nd gear cog.

Geordieboy hammers his car. Wheelspins, burnouts, races, etc. I think this is why he had problems. It seems when the clutch went he may have *forced* 2nd gear and broke it.

Correct, mine gets well and truly hammered to death everyday. Its not unusual for me to lift a rear wheel off the ground on roundabouts, no wonder it drifts.

I thought I'd killed mine last night racing a Vectra 1.8i, I nearly stalled it going from 1st to 3rd but I missed 3rd and hit 5th lol.

I thought the D8 had the facelift, this one isn't as sexy faced as some of the ones....

Take into account peugeot is a little nicer here than in the uk, so we have to pay more,

2700 is close to 2000gbp

But I'll keep looking. It's blue and great condition, not sure of the miles though.

D9 is the facelift version, clear lights and a mesh grille.... like mine

I adjusted my handbrake for the MOT a few weeks back and right at this moment it's awesome! Sure it'll be sh*t again in a couple of months but when they're set up properly they work really well. Not a problem

2,700 buys you a heap here, there's a written off 1998 2.1 etsate in the paper for 2,500.

The facelifted one is the D9, TBH there's not that much difference. When I can be bothered I'll see if the D9 grille fits the D8...

Don't bother, it doesn't. The lights are longer on the D9, so the grille is shorter than that of the D8.

As far as I know, you'd be looking at bumper, lights, grille, slam panel, bonnet and wings (IIRC the indicator sections of the headlights are a different shape where they meet the wings). There has been a thread about this on here before.

What you really need is a rear end write off D9 to go with the front end munched D8

There's quite a few D8.5's kickng around in the UK (I saw one the other day) D9 rear with D8 front on a 'T' plate.
