Jacking a 406 (2.1TD)

Post by Tim »

Greetings all

first post, and a question.

Need to jack my estate up to check the front suspension and brakes. I have a trolley jack and axle stands, but am unsure of where to jack.

Is there a central point that i can jack at, and then place the axle stands at the regular jacking points on the sills?

There is no 'axle' as such to place the stands under, and in any case need to take the wight off the suspension so i can remove the droplinks. There are two bolt heads underneath that i think the lower swing link bolts onto, but not sure what can take the weight of the car. No idea of a central jacking point either to lift it in the first place. Is there a subframe at the front i can lift at?

Thanks

Tim

Hiya mate, and welcome.

I usually jack mine with the trolley jack under the bolt heads you speak of (at the rear of the swing arms), I'm sure you could then get the axel stands under the sill jacking points, but depending on the shape of the axel stands you may want to use blocks of wood or something to prevent damage to the sills.
