nother newbie from rural beds

Post by bloodncustard »

Hi all,

Just picked up my new (to me) 1998 2.1TD 406 diesel estate today. Third diesel estate but first 406 and fark me it's fab! 140k but drives like a dream and feels solid as a rock. Dk metallic red with upholstery in a hideous beige colour. Looks like yer grandad's dream car but god I love driving it already!

Here's to many happy miles.

Hello and welcome, make yourself at home. They're generally a good bunch but watch out for "Puggy", he's a bit unstable if you know what mean...

Thanks one and all for the welcome. First day's hard graft with the car today, Loughborough and back (160 ish miles for me). Blimey I've got auto wipers, who'd have thought? Filthy night on return, driving rain and ridiculous cross winds but even with two sets of ladders on she's straight as a die.

Seen a few comments about build quality on here but have to say she sits well on the road, all strong and silent apart from a very satisfying whoosh from the turbo every now and then. I think I'm in love.

Just out of interest does anyone know what the guage on the far left of the binnacle measures? It starts at off, then runs through from low to high. Strange french hieroglyphique but nowt else. What can it mean and should it normally indicate off like mine does? Does it measure my stress level as I've never had such a relaxing drive in me life.

It's the oil level. It should do a sweep and then indicate an approximate level. Take it with a pinch of salt!

Ronin, what a fantastic film. brilliant final scene at the ice skating. Wish De Niro would stick to what he does best and leave the 'comedy' alone. He and Jean Reno(?) are brilliant together

Too late for me I'm afraid. Got to be in Cardiff for 8 in the morning so heading for bed. Enjoy the film mate, and have a glass for me.

Love Jean Reno, they show lots of his films here. The French ones. In French, of course, with Croatian subtitles :frown:
