Inside the BSI

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Inside the BSI

Post by steve_earwig »

Hi Guys (and gal), in the interests of seeing just what lurks inside the dreaded box of doom, I've filched this off a Dutch forum, it's back side of the gubbins inside the BSI. (ignore comments, unless your air con's up the creek)

Not something I'd like to play with without the right gear but I'd be willing to screw my eyeglass in and have a go to save a few hundred quid... Note the obvious signs of water on the r/h board, as well as the discoloured solder. Nice.

Hmmm, makes me wish I'd crached open the one on the wife's 206 myself. Obvious water ingress, dodgy joints, surely can't be that hard to sort out :?

Problem is when push came to shove I'd probably have been too scared.......

just find a metal plate to hold them underside chips to the pcb then stick it in the oven for a bit :)
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

I think my bsi looked a bit different to the one pictured. I took it apart on sunday. Can't see how to get under the circuit board without breaking the plastic.
Looks like it has solid state relays for the windscreen wipers. I'll try and take pics next time I have it apart. (takes ten minutes to remove and get that far)

Yes please! They probably did have to break it to get to the air con stuff. I'm non on messing with my one (and tempting fate) so that'd be much appreciated. Does the case have any sort of sealing against condensation, dust etc.?
