Hello Everyone,
i Drive a 1999 Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI, 90 BHP LX, does anyone know what kind of braking system is on mounted on the rear? It seems like a brake shoe system, no disks?
Grateful for any comments

two options:
1) Put your VIN into http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com and click 'characteristics'.
2) Have a look

The 90bhp has drums and traditional handbrake acting on said drums.
The 110 bhp has discs with an inner drum for the handbrake (which is really crap).

Sometimes the idea of drum brakes is far more apealing, much less to f*ck up

Re: Brakes Peugeot 406
Thanks for the info, I have heard the handbrake is really bad and I can confirm it. Have warned the wife when parking to keep it in gear or it could be waiting at the bottom of the hill when she returns.
Otherewise am happy with the car, comfortable and ideal for a bit of hobby work, like everything can really be accessed by the normal person without any high tech instruments, tools etc.
Anyway talk, will return at the weekend with more annoying questions etc.
Thanks for now

The handbrake is ok when it's adjusted up, I had to do rear discs, pads and handbrake shoes not long after I bought mine, went from no handbrake to spot on, even on a hill!!
