STOP & beep

Post by Carpman »

Driving down the motorway today I had a beep and the stop light on the dash light up for a split second, this happened several times this morning and at one point while I was in traffic it happened and the revs seemed to jump up at the same time. After I reached my destination I refuelled and drove back some hours later but the fault never reappeared.

I guess that this fault should be recorded in the ECU? The wife has an Audi and I have a handy program called vag-com and with this I can connect my laptop and check for fault codes and clear them, does such a program exist for the Peugeot? I have seen the cable for sale on fleebay but not sure what software to use.

Any one help with any of the above?

The big question is D8 or D9?

D9s can be read using readers easily obtained off ebay. D8s are more difficult, and it can depend heavily on the type of ECU in the car

it will be a D9, sounds like a faulty coolant temperature sensor

Actually it could be low coolant too. The level shifts around away from the sensor under acceleration, putting the warning light on. Some people have reported it lights 'STOP' (although not on mine) and it's a fault which can engage limp-home mode for just a split second.

Ah ok, I have to service the car this weekend (weather permitting) so I was going to replace the coolant and do a rad flush, the car is a D9. I had noticed the oil temp has been just a tad higher of late, although the oil level seems ok. Do you guys think the error code will still be in the ECU?

Some of the fleebay cables for sale talk about using some freeware/shareware OBD programs, I recon my OBD2 cable for the Audi will work with one of these programs, I will download the demo copy and check it tomorrow, has anyone tried any of the OBD programs on a laptop they would recommend?

Sounds a bit like the 'Engine Temperature Too High' problem.

Simply, it's a set of fan resisters/relays in a box fitted to the plastic cowling around the radiator. These breakdown and flag up the warning message even though the engine temp is fine etc.

Have a looky here, it should help viewtopic.php?t=1452&start=0#p13555

Cool, I will check that tomorrow when I do the service. I checked my cable today and it didn't work, so if I want to access the ODD then I will need to buy another one but hopefully I won't need one

simple i know but check the thermosat! may be over cooling.. if the ECU doesnt read normal temp after 30mins then it errors.
