Nah, they're just trying it on, seems to be the way 'cos I already got offered a trade on a Hyandie something-or-other with a dent in the roof. The plus side of that vulva is it's registered 'til August (although it don't look like it's got much chance of getting renewed then) whereas mine is unregisted - I can't afford the £600+ it'd cost to do that (as a 2nd car) and I seriously doubt I'd get the money back.

Interestngly it's got a gas conversion and the guy's claiming 600km/220kn , which works out at 373 miles for £22.87

Erm... that's cheap! I want that now... Diesel now pales in comparison cost-wise :(

Exactly, lpg is 3.35kn a liter here, which is about (as the pound crashes and gives me more problems) 35p, so his consumption is about 11l/100km, or 25mpg, which I'd think is about right.

I did want to go into the whole buying a petrol car and getting it converted thing but I'd have to go through my girlfriend, who's about as technically minded as a fridge  Hence the HDI :(

It's a shame that it costs a tonne to actually get the conversion done. But I spend £200 per month on diesel to get to work and back so with gas I'd probably make a saving (I think it's about 60p/L here).

A complete side question for you, Steve. Do you have winter diesel and summer diesel over in Croatia? I am not sure how cold the winters are there, but in my homeland of mother Russia we have the two types, else it would just freeze. The problem is that many stations don't bother changing from summer to winter diesel, so diesel DOES freeze in trucks and drivers actually use blow torches on the fuel lines to heat the fuel up. And I always wondered why a diesel engine wasn't popular in Russia...

And another question for everyone. Why the hell does diesel cost more that petrol in the UK than anywhere else in the world? Petrol costs more to refine with diesel being almost a byproduct. Europe's diesel is cheaper than petrol, so is Russia's and USA's. Grrrrrrrr....

I don't think so, I think it has all the additives in it all year and I've not seen or heard of any problems. Although, saying that, I've not heard of any problems with people who run their cars on heating oil either so maybe it just doesn't get cold for long enough. The only trouble I have heard of is with people who use lpg to heat their homes, the butane (I think, or is it the propane?) waxes in the filter, blocks it and hey presto - no heating!

I guess the chancellor realised that everyones running their cars on it and using less, so he decided to up the tax (imagine if people started smoking a brand of fags that were 10 inches long...). In fact, given that diesel is more expensive and the cars are now costing more (because of all the stupid emission crap), it only really makes sense to buy a diesel if you do a hell of a lot of miles.
