Sorry, I've been making pickled onions and I think I'm stoned on vinagar fumes.

Hahaha how typical is this:

I just had a wonderful drive to the stealers (surprisingly, given the usual traffic conditions), went up to the service desk where I was greeted and handed the CTS without prompting(!!!), then I got back to the car to find the trip computer dead. miserable crawl through traffic to get back to work, where I spend the remains of my lunch break replacing all the 10A fuses (losing my seat+mirror settings in the process) with the funky light-up-when-they-blow ones I bought the other month. Still nothing. Disconnect the magic trip computer DB9 plug, nothing. Disconnect/reconnect the official plug, nothing. Reset the bloody ECU just in case, nothing. GAH! It's taunting me!

Guess there must be a break in the wiring somewhere, probably the +12v line, but I don't have my Haynes to hand to check.

Interestingly it was only a few days ago that the 'auto' setting on the climate control once again regained the ability to set the blower to something other than minimum speed, and it did randomly change speed this morning... Wish I had a physical wiring diagram.

You've got strange goings on there mjb! :?
If you need a trip computer let me know, I've got the one I liberated from my old 406 before it went to the great scrap heap in the sky.

May need to take you up on that... I'll see if it's my wiring first though.

Dodgy wiring or connector by the looks. Got 3k8 ohms (the correct value on a cold engine) over the ECU pins after a bit of faffing around and plugging/unplugging- virtually the same reading over the intake air temperature sensor pins. Which is good because I have no idea how the hell you're supposed to get the sensor out without a deep 19mm socket and a large hook-shaped ratchet of sorts. Does such a thing exist?

The strange thing is without the CTS connected the fan fires up as the ECU obviously thinks the coolant's hotter than the sun. I don't get that when it's stalling and running rough though. Or maybe it was the lack of coolant this afternoon?

If it were random stalls without the bad running I'd be inclined to agree, but that's not the case.
