D8 Climate control buttons

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

D8 Climate control buttons

Post by teamster1975 »

Hey everyone :)
Are the buttons on the climate control supposed to be backlit or is it a matter of drawing over them with a luminous marker pen?
Thanks for any advise!

Oh I know how to get the module out, I just wanted to know if they were supposed to be lit.
More fun and games for the weekend
I've got the bike to get back together tomorrow, and the sodding radiator went on the car this morning so I've got no transport
I can't get to any calls this afternoon so I'll be out fitting a new rad, £80+VAT from euro car parts

Oh and thanks Welton :)

Yeah they're supposed to be lit. I'd change all the bulbs while you're there as it's time consuming to get at them

I wonder if your car has been fitted with a replacement control unit at some stage in someone's attempt to fix something like the fan not working and you ended up with a pilfered unit?

Shame though, you fixing the illumination just as the mornings/evenings are getting lighter

*makes note* must fix the cigar lighter bulb :frown:

You're right, it must be. Come to think of it the plugs were butchered as if someone had a fight getting them out

Pull out the radio
Remove two torx screws on bottom of climate unit
Pull out trip computer and remove small blanking plate to left of hazard button
Remove two torx screws on top of climate unit
Pull unit out and turn side lights on so you can see which bulbs have gone!

This is assuming a D8; I don't know about the D9.

In Haynes the D9's something similar. Don't disconnect the radio if it has a code & you don't know it!
