Still looks damn good to me too. I wouldn't do it tho, you'd be able to fry eggs on those seats if you parked it in the summer sun here

Re: It's done!!!
I saw some cars at the local scrappy with the black glovebox and black dash under the steering wheel. The glovebox would fit, but that particular one had a broken lock so that's out of the window. And it's completely different under the steering wheel on the D9 as well, so no go there eithermbell666 wrote:Grey dash is standard, my exec is the same!

Re: It's done!!!
That looks fantastic! I have a D8 exec with the black leathers, but the door cards have always let it down. I've always looked at doing this but I thought they didn't physically fit. Was the wiring tricky as in cut and solder, or just a plug and play? Also, I would have to have the lights working
Oh, whilst I'm here, my seats don't heat, the buttons work, they light up so have power but no heat on either front seats...
TBH, I wouldn't use them, but it's nice to have everything working. Any ideas?

Re: It's done!!!
All you need to do to make the door cards fit is remove the exisisting brackets & pop rivet the D9 brackets into holes that already exisist.
The switches are relatively easy to re-wire exisisting wires onto the D9 plugs-both myself & CJ have done this.
lights are are a re-wire onto an exisisting live & grounded onto the exisisting door jamb interior light button
also the D9 rear door pulls are rubbish-we both removed the D8 pulls & re-fixed to D9 cards.

Re: It's done!!!
Adoo captain,
anyroad before the innuendos start flying about our forum names, thought id chuck some word of wisdom about a product foliatec make that is damn useful for spraying interior plastic, the name might give it away its called " interior spray "thats very flexible, and can spray on things ya wouldnt think paint could cover like say the material the 406's upper dashboard is made of, itll cover that easy. For an example my old mini i build had " hospital fade to leperous green - grey " door cards with a green rubber insert, it was the advantage variant with a tennis ball on the seats, similar softness to the 406's upper dash i digress they looked cack so as rare as black door cards are in this case i bought some foliatec interior spray and lacquer. I cleaned the door cards with washing up liquid dried and sprayed, the outcome was amazing i was expecting runs, cracks, orange peel, blooming and all the reactions under the sun reguarding spraying but none appeared i didnt even have to prime them or nothing. it would be ideal to use on say your lower steering column cover and glovebox. I was gonna use it on my old d8 406 to match the dashboard but i sold it before i done it lol. i know a scrapyard is an easy enough option but there are other alternatives like the one i gave ya incase ya couldnt find any or if too expensive
http://www.foliatecshop.co.uk/shop/inde ... 793f720b0b
the link above is for the paint, the other stuff they sell is downright pap and mostly dog tod but the odd useful thing can be found on here, for the inner child barryboy
if ya dont fancy getting it online, halfrauds stock it, thats where i got mine from. hope this helps capt'n jack

Re: It's done!!!
I've never seen a D8 with a black dash - only grey like mine or that beige/cream!
I'd hate to have a cream interior - the doorcards mark really easily and they look really grotty really quickly! Never seen a half decent cream interior - they al look shite!
Question - my spec doesn't have the door lights - are there connectors for them in the doors?

Hey. A bit of advice for D8 owners. Try to get some "door open" sensors from a D9 at the scrappys. The stoopid D8 ones only tell you when the door is wide open and not when it is just slightly ajar. Well at least thats how it went down on my D8. Pain in the a**e

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Its probably the sh*t basic cars they ship to Ireland. You should see the spec compared to ye're cars. Way Way down. My ST doesnt have half the stuff your LX has
