406 Turbo Lump

Post by niz406 »

OK Guys,

Here it is... The Greatest Opportunity.... Honest !

I brought this motor about a year ago almost... I brought it off someone that used to rally 205's and this was his spare engine which he had stored for a few years as they are bloody solid units... no tinny cylinder liners, pure cast baby ! ! Anyway, as he never used it in his car and time got on, he decided to sell it... so I brought it off him with the idea of building my planned 350hp output unit (400hp capable block), this is easily done, and will share the details with the buyer if they are interested?!

I have in pieces a 50k mile XU10J2TE lump that I am going to recon, pistons / rods / crank / head are absolutely MINT ! So are the bores... well what else would you expect for a 50k motor. What I'm going to do, is re-shell it, new rings, complete seal kit, comp headgasket, new water pump, timing kit, even leads and plugs.

What will come with the engine, everything you will need to put it in your 406, low milage drive shafts, intermediate bearing housing, top engine mount, thermostat, auxillary belt, power steering pump, AC compressor, alternator, hell even a starter motor, loom and an ECU... but the best bit... a freshly serviced Turbo, which can be in what ever spec you want.... standard, stage 1, 2 or fully blown Stage 3.

Pictures of the stripped Lump will follow as soon as I can get in the workshop, but for now I'm open to offers.. and please keep them sensible, you will be buying a MINT set up for any conversion or upgrade.. hell, if you want to buy the parts I will build you a 400hp capable block 8) at a cost of course ! ! Obviously this all comes at a price and no warranty, I'm not a business I'm an enthuisiast like most of you.

Only thing is I've had the same car for 6 odd years and my project plans are fading in favour of something different, a change.... so this will potentially be the first of 2 engines I will have for sale... in the near future, possibly!

Aye, I'd suggest asking around the 306 forums
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

HHHMMMM....I may have missed the point, but why strip a 50k engine?

My 97 SRI has clocked 160,000 and I have planned to have the engine reconditioned, but cannot get the wife to part with the cash, but she will have to eventually as I am not getting rid of my modified "baby", and the engine hasn't run the same since the head went 18mth ago!

So I understand, you have a stock SRI engine currently in bits waiting to be rebuilt?

I'm going away for a think!

It was stripped to make way for Forged Rods, Pistons, Knife edge crank etc. for a 400hp capable block (running 350) but at the moment things have changed and I'm thinking of something different. The block can be built with forged pistons if that is what is required, I can still do the entire set up I was going to have if the buyer wants to pay for it that is.. failing that I'm just looking at recovering my expenses.
