Hell, you could stick it in my double garage next to my one (so long as you didn't mind it getting lighter.) There's just one drawback...

Round here, terraced houses are the norm. I earn twice the average *household* income in Stoke, and I still have a terraced house because I can't afford any better

It really is that bad here. Every single person I work with from support to the CEO lives in a terraced house. The current housing market means if you want to buy a house - anywhere in the country - you need to be on at least 4 times the average salary.

I'm praying the knock-on effects of Northern Rock folding mean things are going to change...

Yeah, housing in UK is a mess. Bought a 3 bed terraced house with a mate 1.5 years ago. Now he's getting on my nerves and I want my own place, but I can't 'cos I am tied to the mortgage for another 1.5 years. And who knows what will happen then Just trying to save as much as I can now so I can at least get a 1 bedroom house after selling this one (hopefully without losing any money).

Blame the estate agents, they've been pushing the prices up for years to increase profits. It looks good if you've got a house but if you sold it you'd need to buy another one. I dunno how kids can afford houses now, it's not like here where you generally get three generations living in one (very extended) house. Actually, there's three generations living in a 3 bed semi up the road from my bro in Herts, f*ck knows how they didn't kill each other yet.

There's always affordable housing of course, thank Labour for a house where you can touch your front door and back door at the same time.

Just to p!ss you off even more, my four bedroom detatched house with huge garden (I own trees!) cost me £60 grand but then the average wage is about £500 a month. Loads of kids don't want to drive a tractor any more and are moving into town, as a consequence house prices out in the sticks are falling but a flat in Zagreb is likely to cost 2,000 eurines a square meter.

Houses in the UK are one of the highest in Europe. I was in Denmark 1.5 years ago and even though a Happy Meal from McDonald's cost 50% more (along with everything else, except fuel), property was on average 30% less! This was unbelievable for a country that's so expensive in its own right. No wonder people are migrating out of UK And don't get me started on energy prices......

I, for one, am hoping that house prices go *up* and not down. That way I can make myself a tidy profit as well as have a nice deposit. I wouldn't want to be a first time buyer

Maybe you squeezed every last drop out of the car and there's not much of anything worth salvaging save a few fiddling interior bits and bobs.

Even if someone were to buy the engine for a project I doubt you would see more than £80.00 for it

Make sure you take some time with the car tonight before you say goodbye, maybe take a few last pics at the yard?....
