I get a phone with my job and had a Nokia N70 until recently which was completely shyte with a crap battery and an annoying way of storing missed/received calls I left upgrading it for 3 years (much to Orange's delight) cos I was lazy and hate mobiles anyway.

I was reliably told the N95 is ubber-shyte too with many being sent back with problems.

I've just had an upgrade to the Samsung G800 and it's excellent! very very clear to use, ALL call history whether dialed, missed or received all go in one place which I find really good, when sending a text it automatically suggests who to send it too from your recent history etc, 5mega pixel camera etc. Trouble is they are pricey :( and I'm just willy waving cos it was free!!!!!

Personally I am a Nokia person and I have the most faith in Nokia v the other phone companies. Personally I stay away from Samsung phones (Sorry Welton).

With Nokia the big question is S60 v S40. S60 are the Symbian based "feature" phones, the S40 are Nokia own operating system . Generally the S40 will be the lower end phones and will be slightly quicker to use. S60 will be the higher end phones, they tend to haveslightly slow user interface but you can do more with them, for example install extra applications (e.g. Oggplayer). They also tend to have more memory.

I have a n73 (S60) and I am up to 771 messages, pretty certain that a S40 will do the same thou.

Apart from one I got with my job, all the mobiles I've had have been either hand-me-downs or 2nd hand. I don't need a phone to do much either, just phonecalls, texts, alarm clock and a calculator is handy too. I do like predictive texting, I find the Nokia version easy to use but all the other phones I've had have always been a pain. I don't need much memory either - if the memory fills up then it's time to empty out the texts. Still, you can usually free some up by deleting those stupid games they always seem to have.

£200 for a phone?! Are you people out of your minds? You can service your Pug for that several times.

6310i is the best phone on earth so use that. Or a BlackBerry

The N95 used to be rubbish when it was first released, it was eventually fixed some 10mths or so later.
I got my Silver N95 just before Xmas and its mint.

I would never pay £200 for a PAYG Mobile, thats just wasting money.
Far better to get it on a cheap Contract at least then most if not all of your calls/txts are paid for.

Nokia are by far the best Mobiles out there atm. I used to have an N80 (which you can get for under £60 on ebay) and its brilliant, almost as good as N95.

I used to be all Nokia then changed to Sony Ericsson with my previous 'phone. It was a D750i and I have to say it was brilliant! Kept it for 2.5 years. Last weekend I eventually changed it again to a Sony Ericsson K850i, I was swung by the cybershot 5MP camera, which is very good but suffers from quite a weak flash and lacks some of the functionality I'd like :frown: . Apart from that it's very nice, the phone's a bit big maybe, but very easy to use, nice big clear screen, good web browser, nice MP3 player, reasonable radio.... I'm told it'll even make 'phone calls  .

I also changed from T-Mobile to 3, brilliant package (1100 mins or texts for £20/mth at the moment, but I had to take out an additional £5/mth "video pack" in order to get the phone I wanted, it's OK, I'll be claiming £20/mth on the company expenses  ), free access to some bits of the web including ebay, msn messenger, yahoo, google and 3's own "Planet 3" site, which is also very good. Only problem is that the coverage is a bit shyte compared to T-mobile, particularly in the Rhondda valleys, spent the whole day up there yesterday and was beginning to think that the network had changed it's name to "Emergency Calls Only", but hey that's just another reason not to go to the Rhondda!! :P

I've got an Nokia E65. Great slide phone, and i've got over 795 text messages in my inbox with no additional memory.

My mum has just bought the E51 and it certainly looks ok, but not too keen on phones with the keys visible anymore.

Unfortunately my E65 is on an 18 contract, and I can't move from o2 just yet, but when I can I will be going to Three straight away. The deal they have on at the moment for the N95 is great, plus free Skype and MSN usage is the seller for me.

Unfortunately I just can't afford to buy out of my o2 contract only to go into another one with Three.

Why not? Why keep all your emails why not simply delete them once you've read it and replied/forwarded?

Great for ammo in arguments, proving things etc.

I have a Motorola V3i - the newer V3 with the expandable memory! Its a uber POS...I bought it cheap because Vodafone had some loyalty program running at the time! It runs out of battery after being on the fone for 15 minutes and it will only hold 100 TXT messages!

Looks good though :p

Never buy one again :(

I've got a 6500 slide. Great phone, but it just doesn't feel as solid as other nokias. I'd go for a 6500 classic.

The flashier phones use Symbian OS which makes them dog slow to use in comparison so I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole
