Ooh that reminds me I need to drill a breather hole in the new V6's intake... After hearing about Trem's write-off due to a ford, I'm scared of the smallest puddles
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Is the air intake on the 2.1TD in a different place? It seems to be in the middle of the front bumper as far as I remember

I can offer nothing but sympathy here
I lost my 1.8LX last year in the floods last july, after I'd finished putting 'leccy windows in the rear, leccy wing mirrors, trip computer, blah blah. I was gutted.
Still, the insurance paid out and I got my tubby exec!

I don't think you're going to find an engine on here I'm affraid
Best keep a eye on ebay and decent salvage places etc. is it worth speaking to your insurance? they might right it off, pay you, and you keep the car to fix yourself?

my thoughts are with you at this sad timeterryvizz wrote:I've managed to trash my engine by driving through flood water. Apparently the air pick up is very low on 406s. I know I shouldn't have done it but hindsight, as they say, is 20/20!!
So now I'm looking for a second hand lump as I reckon my car's only worth about £1k. (1999/V GTX Estate Family).
Any help or pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.
Terry
