How do i find out what bulbs i need for the instrument panel

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

How do i find out what bulbs i need for the instrument panel

Post by 406saloon »

My rev counter and speedo lights are out and i just wondered how i find out what bulbs i need to replace them with? I don't fancy taking everything apart to find out then refitting it all to drive and buy some, then having to take it all apart again. :| My haynes manual doesn't seem to know, so is there anywhere else i can find the types of bulb and bulb ratings? I also need to replace the clock bulb, will halfrauds supply all the relevant bulbs?

Hi. I changed a few bulbs before behind the clocks. Take the whole thing apart (you'll have to anyway) take the instrument cluster out, get your bulb thats broken and drive down to halfords. show em the bulb, get the new bulb, pop it in, put back in the instrument cluster. easy :?

Dash bulbs are generally a standard twist fitting across different manufacturers. They sell them in halfrauds or you can get them at maplins, or you could replace them with LED's which would last a lot longer!

Cheers guys, thats just the sort of thing i wanted to hear. Can i get those twist fit LED's from maplins or do i have to contend with the mine field that is ebay? :)

Limerick, Ireland

Yes we do. Its a much better staff discount than many of the places i worked before. It varies from product to product. e.g A seagate 500gb HDD costs €123.99, I get it for €98.99
