back from the dead...

Post by jameslxdt »

:cheesy:
well not quite, back from the passat, yes i am still alive, and i still have the passat
more importantly i see i have missed quite a bit, the old 406 has gone, the passat has done me well (so far) in the last 1000 miles ive put on it, its not perfect, ive had to change the air flow meter and DV, as it was feeling a bit on the slow side, its still not right, running 4psi of boost
tried all of the passat and VW forums and everyones stumped
so how is everyone else doing with there 406's?

Hi there young fellow me lad! The D9's not blown up yet so I'm still living in fear.

So, VW ownership = death, I thought as much. :P Actually, I saw a new Passat being winched onto a low loader this very morning and I thought of you...

'Ello matey, welcome back.

Thanks for your concern about our masterpeices of French engineering. Mine isn't actually misfiring at the moment but it is still a little hesitant at low revs (below 2500ish), worse when cold, so I fear that it's only a matter of time before the misfire comes back  . Plus I got screwed in the budget and as you already know the wife's giving me earache about changing cars.....

Other than that everything's tickety-boo  , how's you then me old china? :P

V6, good
breakers giving me £50 for the tubby, bad.

figuring out how to get fuel remaining on the trip computer, good
not being able to get hold of 1368 (the ecu->tc wire), find a hole through the bulkhead, or catch some good weather to look again, bad

You should see the Renault forum I found when I had my Laguna. It was just post after post after post of unanswered whinges about leaks, dodgy electrics, or both ;)

V6 is different for the trip computer, ill have to check my diagrams, V6 runs MP7 or ME7? whereas 2.0 16v and turbo use MP5.1,2 or 3

The tubby uses MP3.2 and the V6 uses an MP7, but as far as I can tell it's all wired up exactly the same save for a different pin on the ECU. My problem comes from the extra wires in the engine loom and the fact it's all sealed up a hell of a lot better than the tubby's was. No biggie as long as I can get a lunch hour where it's not raining/snowing/etc. I'm just not sure how the hell I'm going to get something through the bulkhead. Think I'm going to have to drill a little hole, hopefully only through the metalwork and not through something expensive
