if youve seen the film based on 'Jet-fuelled kiss-chase' (better known as Topgun). at the beginning after the first dog fight, mav (tom cruise) decides not to land to help his wingman (who got the willies in previously aforementioned dog-fight) land on the deck of an aircraft carrier. getting a bollocking in the process.

when i was still a cadet, i was on my gliding scholarship, i performed a 75mph landing, with a 10mph crosswind. even the instructor was out of his limits on this landing in particular, but not having an engine, that f*cking thing was gonna hit the deck anyways. was called a maverick student by the squadron commander. chap that was doin scholarship at same time as me, called me maverick back at my own sqn and the name stuck. also a couple of the girls thought i looked a little like tom cruise.

being an air cadet ment topgun was watched EVERYtime we went flying. i can now walk in2 a room thats watching it, and can tell where bouts in the film it is and what will happen in the next 5 minutes. sad i know

i also used to be called mav347, the 1st part being the same reason as above, the numbers are my ATC squadrons number
The answers no!

Now whats the question?
