Bye Bye BMW

After selling the old 318tds I bought this for her indoors from my Company's Bookeeper (came with the fullest of BMW histories etc.) however the drive is not a pleasure with those 17"s on UK roads and the car is sensitive enough from the factory. I checked with the BMW owners club and everyone moans about the tramlining and the fact you really have to keep a grip of the thing, some people had sold £30K cars after a few months because the 'feel' was not nice. Trouble is her indoors found it stressfull and 'twitchy' and mostly took my 406 in favour for a more easy drive.

So, that's the end of the BM thing for us and apparently it's now much worse with the new run-flat programme they insist on.

After 8 weeks and a £50.00 profit, umpteen phone calls from buyers it's going next week - £3,500.00 W reg


Whoever bought it new spec'd it up to the max with cruise, climate, multi function wheel etc but hey ho onto the next then

Next car = Vauxhall Astra 1.8 SRi 53 plate £3,999.00 compliant ride, not upset by the road surface and drives a dream (like a Peugeot)

You know what - selling a BMW is sooooo easy I had at least 30 calls for the old 'shitter' and this one sold in 4 hours (honest) followed by around 15 further "sorry it's already sold" calls

We have that problem here too with twats buying E36's (318i) driving around thinking they have "mad cash" when they really paid sweet f*ck all. The funy thing is that they end up blowing up in 2 years time and go back into the classifieds because they can't afford to fix them!

One of my mates loves Astras, hes had a S plate 2.0 16v SRI, X plate 2.2 SRI, at the moment hes got a 52 plate 2.0 Turbo SRI. Hes had no major problems with any of them.

Well by all accounts they make for pretty easy and cheap ownership. Two people in my family have them and have had no trouble at all, I just hadn't considered an astra before - we'll soon see how it works out, I've bought it for her indors and she hasn't even seen it

I drive a mates mk3 diesel ashtray when I do building work with him, it's done 150,000 and still going strong! Except the starter solenoid has started sticking and you have to rock the bastard back and forth in gear to free it up
Can't complain though for a £300 motor

These indicators, or trafficators of which you speak have no place in a BMW drivers world. What the f*ck has it got to do with anyone else about which direction they wish to turn anyway

Secretly I think they are far to busy trying to steward the thing in a straight line for a change to even think about indicating

I've driven a 1.8 CDX with levvers and doze mag weels yea ....

Not bad to drive, found the gearchange a tad rubbery in its feel and the steering to be sharp, but not as nice as the 406! Oh and the ones here come with Holden badges - they are the same cars and built in Belgium
