Heated seats not working

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Hey another Surrey lad!
Neither of the heated seats work in my car either, where did you see these universal kits sold?

Hey there,

I saw these and thought they might be worth a go: http://www.waeco.co.uk/shop/details.asp ... i=12&p=309

They have 2 heat settings. Of course you would need to use their wiring and mount their switch in the car somewhere if you wanted to make use of both heat settings.

I was thinking of wiring in the hottest setting to the original wiring so I can use the original on/off switches. :D

As they come with their own wiring and switches to use, you could be really swanky and fit them into the rear seats if you had a lot of time on your hands. 8)

In the absence of the above link working (gone into recievership?), does the team think these are any cop? (I mean, it's hard to judge what they'll fit like or how long they'll last, it's just I'm not sure about ebay, having been burned in the early days, so I'm just after some reassurance here mainly regarding the seller and the process)

It does rather involve getting them sent to me dad in GB, if it's quick enough he could be bringing it with him early next month, if not it'll come in the post (and I'll probably get clobbered 20 quid tax :frown: as well as the postage :( )

And, does anyone think I'll have problems separating cover from foam to get the buggers in?

I reckon I'm going to go for it and buy a set, the old leather seats got pretty chilly last winter!

Which, the ebay ones or the dead link ones? I must admit I'd feel heaps safer buying off a real company, rather than e(full of tea leaves)bay, but looking on the old interweb they can run to hundreds of quid that way.

'tis done. No freezing leather but it's still a pig when it's -10 odd. I'd prefer one of them Kenlowe water heaters but this is heaps cheaper and I don't have to figure out where to squeeze the thing in.

Well, the seat heaters are finally here :cheesy: (via my dad in Blighty). Amazingly enough they seem to have forgotten to tax them 8) Now all I need to do is find time to fit the damn things (maybe next August :( ). I'll be starting off with "hers" as, if I run into difficulties (i.e. cock things up big time) she can always sit in the back like the Queen.

Hmm, looks like I've got seat belt tensioners, I presume once the airbag ecu's disconnected I can still drive the thing and lift seats in and out without any sudden surprises :?: All the warnings in Haynes have me a little spooked.

Aftermarket Heated Seats Off eBay.

Post by steve_earwig »

'tis done 8) What sort of job was it? A three-day fiddley bastard. Is it worth it? Not sure, maybe the pads are too small. Would I recommend doing it to anyone else? Not for the faint-hearted!!

Do we want pics and stuff? (Not tonight Josephine, I'm too shagged :( ).
