i spent many summers down that area when i was younger with my parents and their caravan :cheesy: .
Cheddar gorge and the caves are a good day out as well as a trip to brean sands ( where you can drive on the beach :cheesy: ) , they got a good fun fair there .
Weston super mare is only a 20 min drive away and they got the haines motor museum and a helicopter museum if your into that sort of thing 8)
a little bit further afield but still only half hour away is bristol , a few industrial museums etc down by the waterfront but i loved " explore @ bristol " http://www.at-bristol.org.uk/explore/default.htm , its great if you are a big kid like me and love hands on science experiments lol :cheesy:
hope this helps
just dip me in chocolate and throw me to the lesbians

We went on a couple of camping breaks right by wookey hole. Didn't go anywhere touristy really as ew had the dog with us, But there's wookey hole caves, cheddar gorge (A drive up the gorge with the sunroof open gets you some great views, we did it in my mate's cabriolet). Wells I've heard is a nice town. You'd need to get out of somerset a bit though, to see some of the other stuff. Weston Super Mare i a nice day out, and nearby Burnham on Sea where, as Darren mentioned, there's a fair there. Friends of ours went there last year though and said the fair is very expensive.

If you like it, somerset has some fantastic views and countryside. If it's a laid back holiday your after, somerset's the place. Otherwise, you'll be looking at lots of day trips.

were on a campsite between wookey hole and cheddar gorge, we like day trips ( get to drive my car more on holiday :D ) and the laid back bit as well, just looking for ideas really cos we been to cornwall last two years and devon before that so somersets a bit closer besides everytime we drive down the m5 the missus asks me what that wicker man thing is (she thinks im einstein or summat) so i thought we might find out this year 8) pretty much anywhere in a 50 mile radius of cheddar is what i expect to be visiting maybe even into wales if i get brave enough :P

We'd stayed in "Wookey Hole Camp Site". Not much there, a basic camp site and a very small village, bit a really nice quiet place to stay (I'd go as far as a bit too quiet for us, we felt guilty about having a few drinks outside the tent after 10).

If your happy to go 50 miles from Cheddar Gorge every day, you'll find loads of stuff to do and see.

If your looking to go to Wales, you'd have to travel further than 50 miles to see anything worthwhile, there's not really a lot to see on the eastern edge of Wales as far as I know.
