It's all comparitive anyways - to us $1.50 AUD is alot for petrol considering the average wage is around $50k AUD per year!
We are swapping to smaller cars here...Toyota Corolla is the second best selling car down here (ewwwww) and the Mazda 3, Golf, Focarse and Ashtray all sell strongly!

Re: Diesel 120.9, Unleaded 110.9
I finally bothered (I was going to go to the one on the high road when I remembered they don't have a board outside with the prices).steve_earwig wrote:About 8Kn a litre I think, I'll have a look later for the correct price.

And for those of you watching in black and white:
Eurosuper 98 ron - 94p
Eurosuper 95 ron - 92p
Eurodiesel - 95p
Diesel - 91p
Heating oil - 64p (The Bluddy Transit didn't mind it at all but this stupid HDi won't run on it

LPG - 36p (god damn, I knew I should have got something running on lpg, diesel's gone up about 2Kn in the last 6 months!)
Average income £500 / month
And before you ask Welton, it's their opening hours

How can fuel be £4.00 a gallon when the average income is £500.00? you could easily spend a fifth of your monthly income on petrol!

I used to spend around 1/4 of my take-home on petrol+parking when I worked in mancWelton wrote:you could easily spend a fifth of your monthly income on petrol!

If I hadn't got a new job at the end of last year I'd have had to quit by now with the rising fuel prices! Spent £80 on a tankful of BP regular last night

Worse still, this winter I spent almost a grand on heating oil, and that's just to heat my house to 8 degrees nearly all the time, 16 for the few days I was home long enough to warrant it. My girlfriend gave up and now burns wood because, insanely, it's the only thing that makes sense.Welton wrote:How can fuel be £4.00 a gallon when the average income is £500.00? you could easily spend a fifth of your monthly income on petrol!

Re: Diesel 120.9, Unleaded 110.9
I am in Atlanta now and diesel here is $4 per US gallon, which is around 53p per lire. Normal "gasoline", which I think is 95 RON, is $3.29 per US gallon. The amount of pick up trucks here is unbelievable though... most being at least V6 powered. Amazingly enough, one colleague here has a VW Jetta TDI.... manual. The only diesel "private" vehicle I've seen here. And another is driving a Honda Civic Si 2L manual nailed together in Swindon. Ahhh, brings me closer to home!

Re: Diesel 120.9, Unleaded 110.9
The tubby will happily do well over 40mpg on the motorway, not much point downgrading to a diesel unless you're doing short journeyslawsys406t wrote:went to me local tesco for my usual top up of super dupa and is bloody gone up again. £1.13.9 p lol any 1 wnt to swap my tubbie 4 a tubby d
