LED lamps / bulbs / lights

Post by Maranman »

Hi all, tried a search but found nothing - anybody tried them :?:

Seen a pair of white ones with 36 LEDs on Ebay for a tenner, its expensive but if they last for years then thats ok

The normal ones keep blowing - could be French wiring of course :)

Cheers

I guess you are refering to a 406 saloon and the rear bulbs? I use to have this problem when i use to give it a good wash water would run down the back and below the boot into the rear light cluster genius idea hence bulbs keep blowing. I solved this by opening the boot and applying clear sealent on top of the black plastic cover over the lights now the water runs straight of not replaced a rear bulb for ages :cheesy:

Don't know why but this post has had 101 views but only 1 reply :!:
(which, if I had a saloon, would have been very helpful :cheesy: )

What I want to know is - has anybody else tried using the LED bulbs instead of "normal" ones :?:

Are they brighter / Legal / Hard to fit / Expensive / CRAP / Nobody has tried them / Any comments at all:?: :?:

Am about to be a trendsetter for the first time in my life..... :cheesy: :cheesy:

They are shown for sale on the Osram, Ring and (of course) Ebay sites and probably others - somebody must have tried them - let me know or I will take a chance, buy some and feed information back to the Forum in general :)

By the way, Don't worry the Winter Solstice is just a few days away (21st December) that means that, for each day that goes past after that - it gets lighter by 3 minutes.....whoopee - who needs lights

Cheers,

I've got an LED tail light on my bike, it's a HELL of a lot better than a bulb, doesn't blow, faster response, and brighter too!
I reckon I'll be fitting them to my 406 when I get round to it; you don't need to worry about getting tugged for a blown tail/brake light!

I fitted 1 in the reversing light that 'beeps' as well-handy for the multi-storey car park with the suicidal pedestrians.

I have tried these bulbs in my pug before (ring from halfrauds) and found that on bright sunny days you couldn't really tell if the lights were on or not! A bad thing for brake lights, explain that on the insurance when someone runs up your backside! I took them out and threw them away!

That surprises me, the one on my bike is brighter than the bulb I had in.
It's a cool gizmo actually; there's an LED strip that you stick to the back of your crash helmet and when you brake, the tail LED unit triggers the helmet light 8)
Good on these sh1tty dark evenings riding home!

Can you get a big flashing target to go on the back of your jacket too? It would make it so much easier for the cagers... :|

Loads of bikes and cars have leds on them these days so they can't all be rubbish.

nearly had a cyclist the other day... decided to turn right without bothering to look what's behind him! cyclists should be forced to hold 3rd party insurance, the dozy pillock nearly made a mess of my bumper/bonnet/undertray!

You can always sue them. Or their next of kin...

And you don't want your car a nice shade of claret!
I was on my way to wembley arena last wednesday, stuck in traffic in shepherds bush; I swear the cyclists use the force to navigate the traffic, they're nutcases! And the bike couriers!

Yeah, I just bought the amber indicator ones for the front of the car, side and rear; as well as the brake/tail lights.
The relay hates the indicator ones, it flashes like it's possessed! lol

But they're cool nonetheless =]

You need some of these or similar
The resistance of led's is less than a bulb filament and it confuses the flasher unit.
