vreg 406 110hdi air con fault
i have recently bought a 110hdi but the air con did not work and found out that it had no gas due to the condensor had gone rotten so i replaced this and ive had it gased up now and its climate controll but when i press the a/c button on this the pump/clutch still does not kick in till i put a live feed to 1 side of the pump then it works and the fan cuts in and out and does all work so its on a switch for now but where has the original live gone where do i start and all fuses r ok so im after suggestions please
Re: vreg 406 110hdi air con fault
try looking at the resistors and relays at the front of the radiator
very common fault on a car that age

Totally agree mine was the relay had new condensor also new pipe work due to leaks. Also the ecu for climate and air con was replaced on my pug i seem to remember.Very expensive if my memory serves me correctly

Re: vreg 406 110hdi air con fault
where is the air con ecu ? cheers

Im not a 100% sure sorry. But i would imagine inside the car, maybe glovebox side or behind the climate control display unit dont quote me on this though.

Hi
This may sound simplistic but you do know that the air con is tied to your temp setting so if you have this set high it thinks you want it there so it does not kick in. Well that's what mine did. Hope this helps

The only temperature setting which disables the compressor completely is 30 deg C (on mine anyway).

You should be aware that there is a pressure sensor fitted to the condensor,
and by feeding a direct live to the compressor you have by passed this.I believe
its there to prevent the system from running when pressure is low resulting in lack
of lubrication to the compressor,or over pressure resulting in pipe leaks or blown seals.
I have had problems with my a/c since i bought the car, first prob was similar to yours
and was cured temporarily by changing the resistors next i had to change the condensor
then 80% of the pipe work, whilst this was going on i had it tested and re gassed several
times BUT BECAUSE THIS WAS CARRIED OUT BY SEVERAL FOOKING RETARTED MONKEYS
PRETENDING TO BE MECHANICS,INCLUDING THE sh*t FOR BRAINS MAIN STEALER WANKERS
THAT KNOW FOOK ALL WHO ALL FILLED IT ENOUGH TO GET IT TO WORK TEMPORARILY
AND TAKE MY MONEY THE ROBBING THIEVING BASTARDS,I now need to have the compressor
changed as its fooked due to lack of lubrication.
You might also try disconnecting the live feed turn the a/c on and if clutch doesn't engage
try wiggling the wires that go into the sensor on the condensor
