K-Light and hesitation

Post by Tiny Tim »

Hi all

I've done a search but couldnt find anything relevant... I've got a bit of an issue on my '97 2.1TD at the moment.

Had the car for about 8 months now, and its been absolutely fine bar the need to replace the radiator recently.

Anyway... I've had instances now where I will be driving along (normally) and for about 1 second, the K-light will flash up and I will lose engine power (as if someones turned the key).. all of a sudden it'll go out and the power comes back. Any ideas before I take it to a garage and get bummed to get it checked over?

Out of interest, does the ECU store faults, or only whislt the engine is running?

Many thanks! :D

The ECU should store faults as long as it's not disconnected from the battery

Another "check all the connections" job I reckon, even the battery and earth straps.

Like Steve says, check the plugs; maybe disconnect them and give them a spray with switch cleaner.
When your rad went where was the leak? Maybe some coolant sprayed onto one of the connectors?

Total schoolboy error, didnt even think to check the connectors, i'll have a look tonight.

Rad went about half way down in the middle, not sure there's much down there that will affect running but will check anyway - I could well have disturbed something when faffing about with those 'FUN' water pipes!

Thanks guys :cheesy:
