Fastest accelerating car I've been in was a scooby wrx sti with pro-drive performance pack. That was nuts

Fastest speed I've been in a car... I don't know. The V6 speedo only goes to 150mph and it was a long long way past that... On the, uh, autobahn of course... ;)

The tubby would pull to about 145 indicated, which was 132 on the GPS. Haven't compared the V6 speedo to the GPS though, but it seems to over-read by about 10% as well

And I couldn't be bothered to change it

My bike does 0-60 in about 5 seconds odd, you won't find many cars that can do that. Too far over the ton it's a bit of a handful though, I briefly had an indicated 130 on it (with quick peers over the fairing to make sure I was still on the road) but I wouldn't recommend it. I did an indicated 148 in the Senator, on the straight it was fine but I got surprised by a bend I hadn't really thought about before and suddenly things got a bit scarey. That was one heavy car...

Caveat: I dunno what it's like now but last I heard, if you get done for going 30mph over the limit it's an instant ban (unless you do what I did and hobble into court on crutches :cheesy: )

Nissan Skyline R33 GTS 2.5L turbo. Very very quick. Fastest I've gone in my 406 diseasel was indicated 120mph (115mph on GPS) - not bad for a 9 year old car that has a maximum speed of 118mph when new. Fastest accelerating "ride" I've been in was in Rita Queen of speed in Alton Towers, which does 0-100mph in 3 seconds

I've never been in any really really quick machines. A mate of mine likes his fast cars, he's had several scoobys, and more recently he had a S2000 which he binned and now a Z4. He usually manages to show me the other side of 125 when we go out for demonstration runs. .

When I was a kid I had 2 uncles in particular who used to drive quickly. One was a rep so had a string of granada / clarton type company cars. He once spun me along in the back of his MK2 granada at an indicated 135 when I was a kid 8) . They took his mk3 granada on a touring caravan holiday to barcelona and "almost forgot the van was there, had it over the ton several times"

The other "uncle" (friend of the family) was a rally fanatic. Always has rally replica escrote and stuff, most memorably an RS2000, great car! 8) .

I call bs on that. I think the world record for towing a caravan's only about 125mph due to the power needed to move something so un-aerodynamic plus the issue of instability. IIRC Top Gear did it with a modified scooby or something and ended up destroying the caravan in the process

My betting is you would very much know you've got a caravan attached if you were doing that speed

Maybe it was one of those mutant caravans which fold down into a smaller thing

My collegue let me drive his Skyline GTS (280BHP standard) and fitted with a HKS 'HyperDragger' exhaust (which he never realised was straight-through when he ordered it  ) and a HKS induction kit. The straight 6 with single Turbo and VVT pulled *very* strongly - actually made my stomach feel bad

Now he's got a Galant VR4 twin turbo running 360 BHP (lots spent) and that is bonkers - drives like it has a *huge* Diesel engine, loads of Torque. 8)

Other 'memories' with me and my mates ......

Vauxhall Astra GTE 16valve 8)
