Which reminds me, I saw a mk2 Scirocco 16v on the road the other day, only available in lhd which can only be a good thing as the brakes on the rhds were appalling.

I call bs on that. I think the world record for towing a caravan's only about 125mph due to the power needed to move something so un-aerodynamic plus the issue of instability. IIRC Top Gear did it with a modified scooby or something and ended up destroying the caravan in the process

My betting is you would very much know you've got a caravan attached if you were doing that speed
Oh yes, serious artistic license on forgetting it was there, but I don't doubt that he had it up in that region once or twice.

Fastest car I've ever been in was an ASCAR, 179mph.... Very scary!

Other than that it would be my old race tuned MR2 turbo, for a road car nothing touched it and lots tried and were made to look very silly.
People generally don't understand just how quick a heavily modded MR2 turbo is.
I raced a BMW 650i (0-60 in 5.3) and I was ahead the whole way by a wide margin... and as for the Volvo T5.... ROFL! 8)
Very lairy/ dangerous in the wet but on a dry road... Awesome.

My 300ZX Twin turbo was pretty impressive for top speed (155mph and still pulling) but was a lardy bastard so took a while to get there.

Slower but still nice and torquey with an interesting dollop of boost would be a Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo, I nearly bought one then found my MR2 which was MUCH faster so got that instead.

It's not that bad! ;)
Fiat garages will tell you the engine has to come out but that's a lie.
It's not easy but you can change the belt with the engine in and most specialists will.

It was 128.86mph before top gear failed to beat it in 2003. Has anyone managed to beat it since? Come on who's got a Guiness World Records in the house?

By the look of things ive not been in anything that fast
Years and years ago i was a passenger in a chipped up Rover 620ti. Cant remember what speed we got up to but i thought it was well quick  At work we have a couple of company Scoobies, a 54 plate standard WRX and a limited edition GB270 on a 57 plate, both feel fast but not really been up to any decent speeds in them.

As for me driving fast ive got up to 135mph on a private dual carriageway in my Saxo VTS with a Ford Galaxy V6 2 inches off my rear bumper  Another memory is when i was 17 i took my dads company Sierra Saff 2.0 GLS up to 130 8)

Nowadays i keep on the licence keeping side of a ton (only just tho)
