Same here, nice txting, good alarm set up, decent volume speaker, very good camera and animated backgrounds.
Ideal for me.

The SonyEricsson K800i is the best phone I ever had. Its a proper camera. 3.2 MP. Other phones may have higher MP but they havent got Auto Focus, Red-eye, and of course a proper flash like the sony. Its my fourth one. Some werent too reliable. But all repalced under the 2 year warranty

I think I've been lucky! I did some work for a mate and he gave me an unbranded K800, I've had no problems so far, upgraded to latest firmware.

Yup, the SonyEricsson K850i has all that plus it's a 5MP camera. I really am rather impressed with the camera, picture quality is better than my old compact digital camera, (a sony cybershot has it happens, 3.2mp) although it obviously doesn't have the optical zoom. Plus it has an automatic internal lens cover now, so no bulky lump on the back.

Here's a sample pic for you 8)

It doesn't matter how many MP the camera has on a phone - at the end of the day it has to do with the size of the sensor. Somthing the size of a pinhead aint gonna take good photos!

Nice Zuki's - I was offered a drive of one...my mate sold it :(

Sensor? Do you mean the ccd? They're measured in Megapixels...

Only in Dixons (or anywhere else that doesn't actually understand photography).

What's better, a 28.1 × 18.7mm sensor capable of 10Mpixels or a 7.18 x 5.32mm capable of 12.1Mpixels?

I'll give you a hint: the 10 megapixel sensor belongs to the Canon 1D Mk.3 which goes for around £2500 while the 12 megapixel camera belongs to a Canon IXUS 85 IS costing £200.

There's a reason professional photographers don't ditch their £5000+ cameras and lenses, and buy compacts!

Have you got one with subtitles for the hard of thinking? :cheesy:

I didn't really know there was that much difference, although I realised there were good quality ccds and bad ones I thought it was something similar to the different grades of tft screen. The lense still has much to do with it tho, no matter how good or bad the ccd is in a mobile phone, if it's only got a lense the size of a fingernail it's never going to win awards.

While I was still in England I was playing with digital cameras and worked my way up to a Dimage A1. When I came over here I found myself using my antique Olympus 1.6mp because the Minolta was a tad too big & complex for everyday use so I flogged it and bought myself a tiny Sony W55 7.2mp which is totally idiot proof, takes better pics than I'll ever need (what noise?) and is small enough to stick in my pocket and go with me everywhere anyway (very useful for intimidating the fcuk out of idiot forign drivers when they crash into me too  )

You can get a 2nd hand Canon EOS 300D for about £250 nowadays, and they'll take exactly the same lenses as a £5000 Canon 1Ds Mk.3 (36 x 24mm sensor)

At the end of the day (as teamster's links explains in a very round-about way), the bigger the sensor, the sharper the picture due to all sorts of physicsy wave theoryish phenomenon. That's why top-level professional photographers with big budgets and the need for large, sharp images use medium-format and large-format cameras which look like the things they used to use in the black and white era... Digital backs for medium format cameras can cost over £100,000 last time I looked, although film plates and high resolution scanners still reign in this area I think.

Low light is also a massive problem for tiny phone CCDs too, as it's a case of "count the photons... 1.... 2.... 3...." ;)

Personally, I've got a Canon EOS 30D 8) (usually attached to the Canon 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM or my fantastic Sigma 50-500mm f4-6.3 EX HSM "bigma" <insert 'besotted' smiley here>)

Still use a little Nikon compact thing for when lugging around an SLR isn't practical (usually when beer is involved  ) and only use my phone's camera in emergencies because all phone cameras are crap, especially in low light!

Mostly (military) aviation photography - I try to go to loads of airshows in the summer, even camp down in Fairford to spend both days at RIAT

One of my favourites, and it's not even flying!
