basicly, it cranks over but wont start.
local garage says it the fuel pump and a temp fix is to hit it and its will work, thus far it has worked, but twice today i had to remove the rear seats hit the pump, then put back after the car started..
basicly wanted to know if its happened to anyone else and how much it would be to get it fixed (as ive heard that replacing the pump means it can fail again in as little as 1k miles >http://forums.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction ... d0cf6.html <source)

Hi jps yes it happened to me just after i bought my 406, rac man
told me about the quick fix which i used for a couple of days while
i waited for a pump from main dealer, around £130 . You should
change it as soon as you can to avoid metal filings from it being
pushed up to the filter and possibly high pressure pump

Re: My 406 is dead
While you're changing it, common practice seems to be to change the filter and housing together - any swarf in the housing can get the other side of the filter and it doesn't take much to trash the HP pump. It takes a lot to fix it tho!
I'm wondering about flushing the fuel lines from the tank too, anyone?

You are supposed to flush the lines - afterall if 'bits' reach the filter then they've been in the lines too
Overall - I reckon on £250.00 for a garage to do it all properly.

Re: My 406 is dead
ta, its currently in the garage getting the pump changed and anything else that needs doing (he does the local 406 taxi firm so hes used to it)
still, £180 for the pump
*edit update*
Its cost £277 in total. but at least the pumps now covered and i can drive again
