They are depreciating quite nicely aren't they? :) I think it'll be about 2012 before we see that sort of price though and I'm betting the petrol V6 in top trim level will be one of the first to break the magic £1000 barrier although it'd be a top-trim diesel V6 that'd get me into a 407. 400Nm of torque. Mmmmmm. Wonder what it sounds like

I may have the shortest list here:

[March 07] - P reg 1.4 Pug 306 Style (was a great wee car, one of the best of my school year. I was tail-ended on 15/05/08 and it was written off.)
Image

This is what happened to it. :(
Image

[May 08] - 51 plate 1.8 Pug 406 LX (don't technically have this yet, i get it on friday.)

Yes is have a short list but i'm only 18 and i only passed my test in September - 100% pure pug though. :cheesy:

Looks like a bit more than a scratch, the car'd need jigging to pull it straight, then the back panel either hammered straight or replaced, maybe the inner too and what about the floor pan? I'd tie it to a lamp post and drive away a few times but you know what insurance companies are like.

It's occured to me since I did my list that I forgot about a few cars (e.g. '88 Scirocco with awsome sound system and sh!t brakes)

That's it after we tried to fix it with a hydraulic ram.

Basically the boot wound'nt close and the right hand light cluster was knackered. The car was only worth 600 quid (we bought it for £460 :cheesy:) so it wasn't worth even the labour costs to fix it.

I have to say goodbye to it tomorrow, we're scrapping it , i will miss it, we had some good times. But its OK because then we go and get my 406! :cheesy:

Hi Toot,

The wee migraine, aside from all the bad press was a very good car and served me well for my 4 years of ownership. i had a look at the megane 2 owners club website for some advice and guidance, and it was a good find. some of those guys really had some lemons tho. Anyway, here's all that went wrong with mine: -
KNocking noise from front suspension - never cured but they (dealer under warranty) did go over the front end with a fine toothed comb and assured me that all was 100%
Check Injection warning - this just needed a new heater plug
Misting headlamp - fixed under warranty - but they hadn't bothered aligning the bulb or connecting it to the electric adjuster - returned to the dealer and the service manager tried to adjust/connect it with a soldering iron (unplugged thank god) - bizarre, just bizarre!
Vibrating passenger seat - it annoyed me but the mrs loved it  cured - apparently there was something loose at the top of the seat where the headrest goes in.

Generally - everything that went wrong was just rattles and squeaks - the real let down was the quality of after sales service. My brother-in-law also has one and we tried to find a decent dealer but at some point one of us was always let down. If you're using a main dealer, be very clear about why your car is going in and exactly what they are going to do when it's in there!

Oh, one more thing is the squeeling brakes - don't use renault OEM pads.

Good luck, nice car, great engine, great handling, good mpg!
PM me if there's anythng else you need to know.

Cheers

Hey, cheers for that cookies :cheesy:

Ive had it about 5 months now and its been trouble free, it does have one or two rattles in the cabin on the rough roads and speed humps when driving round town but shes silent out on the open road :D

Ive got a headlight bulb to replace, which iv been putting off. What iv read is that its a complete bastard as you need to go the a little hatch in the wheel arch :frown:

But yeah i,m pleased as punch with it. 48 mpg is my usual average and thats not really trying. Engine performance is good, pulls nice, and in 6th. Three figures is no problem. Still tho a may sneak a remap or chip on it at some point :cheesy:

Hey,

I just googled my number plate and this post came up and noticed toot was the previous owner of my car. I was just wondering if anyone can pm him for me as I can't as I'm a newbie to the site. I now own the cupra 20vt reg y161hyg he owned and I just want to let him know it's in very good hands and has changed an awful lot since he owned it.

Thanks
