We all know that modern day cars can crack 200,000 miles with no problem at all especially a diesel but i got in a taxi last night and i couldn't believe my eyes, 431000 miles and this was on a 02 Mondeo estate.
It was a tatty looking thing but it felt solid enough with no odd noises.
Well done Ford, not many of your cars get to that mileage before it turns into a pile of rust
in know they are not cars but i think i should mention it cos im impressed by it but we got a few volvo b10 buses in the depot that i work for that have covered nearly 800k miles and the maintenance cards show the engines have never been replaced or even had major work done to them
just dip me in chocolate and throw me to the lesbians

Yeah and some trucks with big diesels run for 100K+ over 20 years or more.
I feel i must step in here and add my little bit as previously stated i once
owned a 1983 2.3 V6 granada that i used for taxi work, when i sold it it had
done 475k with one clutch change one diff and the usual shock and springs
Just checked my tachograph disc to be sure, the mileage on my T plated Mercedes Actros 450hp V8(plated to pull 75t on heavy haulage) is 1,649,650km (approx-1,025,045 miles), bodywork looks ok and due to regular Dot inspections (every 6 weeks) runs sweet. Boss owned it from new and still on origonal block and 16speed gearbox.
Was in a Ford Falcon cab here in Sydney and it had clocked 830,000km - the diff was whining away and the suspension was well and truely shagged. Autobox wasn't much chop either, there was around a 3second delay when he stuck it into drive. Well and truely on the way to the scrap heap - judging by the year of the car it was 1998 - this was back in 2004!!!!!!
