Hope this is right place for this my air conditioning needs refilled I think, it started making a clicking noise and when I take fuse out it stops does this mean it needs refilled with gas ? Its a 99 D-Turbo 406 not HDI.

It wan't clicking before when it was empty but does now its full.

They will only charge you if it passes the machines pressure test.

The clicking noise is the clutch on the a/c compressor engaging and dis engaging
which is normal they seem to get a little loud as they get older, it could need
re gassing but keep in mind it will work harder as the weather warms up :)

Well hoping or not day two after the re-gass and no AC would appear to be back to pre-gas and leak test so pretty browned off :(

Will be on the phone to kwik fit tomorrow. My guess is there is a leaking high or low pressure valve so it was fine whilst the machine was on but has leaked afterwards.

Will update after word with the lads at Kwik Fit.

Kwik sh*t fitter oh dear!!!! Me personally would only goto these kind of places for lets face it tyres and exhausts  Have heard and seen many things that you should not see ask them what a torque wrench is? And try and get your bolts of when you have a puncture forget it. All mine sheared off due to being over tighten   And jacking up points is anyones guess they use the sump or your sills nice  . I would look up your local mobile guy that is a specialist 8) A pressure test should of shown a leak though :?

Don't even go there for them! As well as the 'lets see how many times we can perforate this guys car with a jack' and 'how tight will these wheel nuts go before shearing' fun they do just changing a set of wheels, it took them about 6 attempts to get an exhaust put on a tubby.

And they want to take my money to over-pressure my aircon now??? Sod that! I'll be looking in the yellow pages when I need a re-gas - not touching those kwik-fit muppets

After my my problem with my bolts shearing off i went back not a happy man. Spoke to the manager nicely at first  asking for some kind if compensation for 4 new bolts plus have to have my car towed plus having the holes drilled taped and rethreaded. As his qualified staff had over tightned them And also if his guys knew what a torque wrech was?. A shop full of people. 8) Which i got a very sarcastic reply and it was not us prove it. Which pleased me   My reply was beep beep beep beep. Needless to say i was asked to leave as i was scaring his customers who in turn walked out as they were waiting to have tyres fitted and did not want a bunch of cowboys working on there car.

Pretty much the same response I got when I told them 406 turbo exhausts don't have an oval tailpipe, they shouldn't stick out 5" behind the bumper (actually further back then my towbar), they shouldn't hang 3" below the aperture in the bumper and they shouldn't be twisted 45 degrees...

Had to take it up with the regional manager who forced the store manager to fix it. or try to. 5 times.

I've never had the displeasure thankfully! It's funny, I read the horror stories on here but I can't imagine an outfit being so incompetent!

I attempted my last exhaust myself and used substandard parts resulting in burning a hole in the bumper and buggering up my bad back in the process, yet it was STILL a better experience than using those clueless idiots!
