Post by munfred »

It has just cost me over £90 to fill up the 406.
How ghey is that.
Anyone else had to suffer this yet?
This was at the cheapest garage in my area. The rest are 1p a litre more.

It's too expensive to fill the car up any more, I put £40 in at a time.
Diesel's gone up to 132.9 at a Shell garage near me, they seem te be putting the prices up weekly for Christ's sake

£665 to fill up one tank on my Mercedes Actros (it's got two 500 litre tanks) - just moved a crawler crane, total weight of load and truck/trailer - 149ton, truck averaged - 2 gallons to the mile or 0.5mpg :cheesy: makes my 406 seem very economical

It's comparitable to what you earn - to us $90 to fill the car is pretty expensive even though it's roughly half the price for you?

Do you get the discount vouchers if you shop at a supermarket and spend over a certain amount?

It's far cheaper than Croatia too, is your average wage less than £500 a month? Didn't think so! But, like the 'states, if your fuel cost as much as ours then no-one would go anywhere. Still, it makes me wonder, if your government can afford not to tax fuel so much do they clobber you elsewhere? Or is it the gravy train for the rich and greedy here? (I suspect the latter  )

Tesco do this occasionally, 5p/l off at the pumps if you spend over £50 in the shop.

Average wage here is AUD $57,000 - which equates to 27,944.58 GBP...Or 537 quid a week...

But I'll put that into context for you - $57,000 will buy you a BMW 320i with climate, leather etc :P

Our average is £26K but this is gross so you can wipe off 26% of that to find a Nett pay of £19K. What's the tax deductions like on your Aussie gross earnings? We have to pay Income tax and National Insurance (this is where we brits pay into a free health service for foreigners to use and a tiny state pension worth next to f*ck all when we retire after years of slogging away).

The trouble with "average" earnings here is that it takes into account the so called Fat Cat's who gross Millions a year and your low paid workers all in one handy figure :|
